Talking About the Wines:

-Washington Wine Blog, Feb 20' gave 91 points to Mestres NV 1312. "….the Cava is a blend of Xarel.lo, Parellada and Macabeu, which were all hand harvested at the Mestres 74 acre estate, that sits at 680 feet above sea level. Dosage checks in at less than 6 g/l in this fruit driven Cava with final blending being 30% Macabeu, 30% Xarel-lo and 40% Parellada. Disgorged in April 2019, the silky mousse impresses with a soft texture and wonderfully round mouthfeel. Bright lemon zest combines with green apple, Challah bread and ripe nectarine flavors, with lighter cantaloupe, mulberry and wet stone undertones. The sense of terroir here is very good. Inviting in its youth, the ‘1312 Reserva’ will provide drinking enjoyment for another decade. “

-Vinous Media “Mediterranean Spain: Diversity and Consistency, by Josh Raynolds, Apr ’19 gave 91 points to 2015 Mestres 1312. “Brilliant straw. Mineral-accented citrus fruits and white flowers in the incisive nose, along with a gingery element that builds as the wine opens up. Taut and nervy in the mouth, offering Meyer lemon, bitter quince flavors and a spicy touch of ginger. Shows firm cut on the finish, which hangs on with very good tenacity.’ (disgorged in September, 2018)

-Washington Wine Blog, Nov ’18 gave 92 points to Mestres NV 1312. “The NV '1312 Reserva' Cava from Mestres is a fantastic effort. Disgorged in April 2018, the wine is a great blend of Parellada (40%), Macabeo and Xarel-Lo (both 30%). This shows an inviting bouquet with aromas of biscuit, grapefruit blossom and kumquat with a touch of green apple and smoke adding further complexity. The palate shows a beautiful salinity, backed by flavors of gravenstine apple, brioche, and kumquat which all mingle in the glass. Showing nice aging potential, this outstanding Cava will continue to develop over the next decade. Drink 2018-2028.”

-International Wine Report, April '17 gave 90 points to Mestres 1312 NV. "A blend of 40% Parellada with the remaining equal parts Macabeo and Xarel-Lo, this wine was aged on the lees for 20 months, and then was disgorged in July 2016. This opens with a lovely bouquet of green apple, green papaya, white flowers, and kumquat, with orange rind accents. The mousse glides on the mid-palate and yields ripe flavors of Pazzaz apple, mulberry, brioche, lemon zest, and Gravenstein apple. This is an exceedingly good value out of Penedes."
